Cultural Festival

Hurray! Off we go to the Cultural Festival. It was hard to sit still on the bus ride there. When we did get there and inside I remembered how cold you can be with a thin top with straps and a thin tight skirt! Unfortunately we had to wait there for ages, luckily a parade of children came past in amazing costumes. A few minutes later a staff member came to take us backstage. When we got there we had to wait for the group before us to finish their performance. I was in the second row in between Demi and Ashley who were in front of me. Our performance was great. I had butterflies in my stomach at the start but they flew away. The audience clapped and clapped for us. I can't wait until next year!

Mud football

On Saturday we asked Miss Nobel to come to the soccer game. Then 2mins to go until  kick off when we got on the field   it was all muddy, watery and sloppy. It was kick off, first I was attack then soon Miss Nobel was cheering for us. We lost 0-1 but we enjoyed the game!

Cultural Festival

Tomorrow the kapa haka people are going to the CBS arena  to perform the haka and some songs. We are performing in the afternoon we are riding on the bus. I am scared because we might get some actions wrong. The kapa haka people have been practising lots. It will be really fun because it will be a cool stage it is going to be a long bus ride.

The winner is .....

We went to watch The Winner is...It was really fun and it was interesting. The actors were really funny because the boy was mean to the girl.
The story was not all about winning, it was about team effort.

Gym School Fun

The music started, the birdy dance was underway. We were warming up for our gym adventure!
Next we were put into 6 groups for a variety of fun activities. There were so many things to do and so much equipment...we couldn't wait.
Climb, stretch, pull, tiptoe, roll and bounce! We were so busy practising our skills.

"My favourite was doing flips onto the fat mat," said Wyatt exhaustedly.
"I loved jumping into the foam pit, then climbing up the high rope," exclaimed Molly.
"Balancing on the beam was fun for me," said Lily happily.
"Pulling myself up on the bars made me feel strong," explained Ethan.

Our muscles are a bit achy today but it was worth it. Gym School was the best!

Our Statistical Investigations

Today in class we did a graph about what people would do at a birthday party. We had nine groups and we all asked the class different questions. Some of the question were:
* where would you go for your birthday,
*what treat food would you have,
*what treat drink would you have.
We surveyed our classmates to find their favourite choices.
Miss Noble showed us an example of how to graph the results by some people in room 9.
Our graphs look just as good!! Come and see them up on our wall.

Making kites

Last week room7 made beautiful kites. We made the kites because it was kite day on Friday but it was cancelled because of rain. We might be having kite day another day. First we had to find 3 people to make a group. Then we had to design the kite on a piece of paper. Next we had to tape the sticks on to the corners of the kite. After that we turned it over and decorated it how we did on the paper. Then we wound the string around the handles. Lastly we attached the string and handles to the kite. We will have soooo much fun flying them just like we had making them.

Super Swimming

For two weeks room 7 will be doing swimming every day at 10:30 at Graham Condon.room 8 and 9 are before us and room 6 are after us. I'm in the top group with Jaxon, Katie, Mia, Hannah and Luke. Today we did about 7 lengths and a dive each. To get there we go on a bus that has seats made out of sheep wool. Jaxon and I are quite good at backstroke and freestyle but we need to get better at sculling.
We both love swimming.

HINDENBURG

I found out some information about the Hindenburg as part of our topic on flight.

The Hindenburg disaster took place on Thursday, 6th May 1937. Hindenburg was one of  the largest air ships ever! It was 245 m long. 35 out of 97 people were killed. The air ship flew from March 1936 until destroyed by fire 14 months later in 1937. The crew flew more than one million miles!

The Amazing Air Force World

Stop the car! We are at Air Force World. Room 6 and 7 visited the museum on Wednsday.

because our topic is Up, Up and Away. First we went into a classroom where we learnt:
  • the parts of an aeroplane
  • how the parts help the plane fly
  • the time line of how people tried to make planes
  • the 4 important words - lift, weight, thrust, and drag

Next we got to explore the amazing planes. Finally we got to do a scavenger hunt which was fun. Some teams managed to nearly complete the challenging search.

Last Wednesday me and my family dropped my TINY dog off at The Bark Royale (the dog hotel)  We were going to Sydney for my cousin's wedding on the Friday. On the Emirates 777-300er. On the plane I watched a moive on the aircraft called The Muppets. And on the way back I watched Wreck it ralph. On friday it was the weding at 4 15pm. We all had alot of fun. My meal was nuggets and chips. The next day we went to the Power house museum and aquarium.
I liked the aquarium best. When you went into a tunnel with glass walls glass roof and floor so the fish could swim under you and over you. The power house was good as well they had all experiments and inventions.

Soccer time!

Last week some soccer coaches came to give us some fun! They divided us into 8 teams of random ages so we had about 6 players in each team. We played four 8 minute games. We had two teams on each game, a bib team and no-bib team. The bib team stayed after each game and the no-bib team moved on to play another team. Some of us wanted to play a big game of soccer with our school goals but the smaller games were safer and let everyone get a turn.
When we scored a goal we had to run to our goal to touch it before we could start play again. It was exhausting and hot and sweaty. We were desperate for a drink. Afterwards we were all really tired but we had extreme fun!!

We need homework!

I believe homework should stay.

Some people think we have no one to help us, but our mum and dad are always happy to help because they want us to do our best.

Also people think you don't get time to play but you can just play after. If we play after homework we get good grades and get time to play aswell.

Homework makes you get better at maths and you can build your foundation. If you build your foundation when you get to high school you'll be good at harder things and get a fantastic job!

Homework must stay!!!

In Room 7 we are learning about the beach. Today we  did a beach buddy assembly with the cute Room 1. We had to bring something beachy to wear and Miss Noble got to sit in a deck chair. We were sorted into groups: sand castles, fish, shells, seaweed, crabs and birds. Then everyone did a picture based on their group title. We had fun helping and learning.

Pig Fairies!!!!

We have pig fairies in our classroom. Pig Fairies sneak into Room 7 and look in our desks to find messy ones. They had so much fun the first day they came because they found many, many, messy desks. They play and party in the mess. Some of our books and pencils fall out onto the floor. A note was left on our board saying they will be back...so we are trying to keep our desks tidy! Sometimes we have a little class discussion about how we could get rid of these naughty pig fairies. We hope we don't get them at home in our bedrooms. We think we might need to make pig fairy traps.

Managing Self

The key competency we are looking at this week is managing self. It's all about being ready and focussed for learning. When we stay on-task and listen to the teacher, when we are organised and following instructions we are self-managing. I took photos of children self managing in Room 7 today...look at these great learners!!
